Who is it for?
Why you will love it?

Just 30 kilometers from the bustle of Shillong lies a quiet corner of Meghalaya where the pulse of the Umtrew River beckons the adventure-hungry. This short escape invites you to leave behind the ordinary and quite literally plunge into one of the region’s most thrilling river experiences: white water rafting in Meghalaya.

Whether you find yourself here during the monsoons or in the crisp winter months, the river offers an adrenaline-filled ride fit for beginners and seasoned rafters alike. In the monsoon, the river swells with rain-fed rapids, offering a short but exhilarating 600-800 metre stretch that promises just the right amount of thrill for first-timers. In the drier months, when the river calms and reveals its scenic banks and flowing rhythms, a 4-kilometre journey, which is a longer, immersive ride through forested terrain and gentle whitewater that awakens your senses and leaves you wanting more.

You don’t need any prior rafting experience to enjoy this. Each raft, designed for up to six participants, is helmed by trained professionals, accompanied by an escorting safety kayaker from a professional training centre, ensuring you’re in safe hands while you focus on paddling, laughing, and soaking in the scenery.

Healthy, active individuals between the ages of 12 and 60 are welcome to be part of this escape. And if you’re craving a hearty meal after all the action, a delicious home-cooked lunch can be arranged on request.

The rapids connect you with Meghalaya’s untamed beauty and leave you just a little bit braver.
